About ACET

The Association of Consulting Engineers Tanzania (ACET) is a non-profit organization established in 1985 to promote the practice of consulting engineering in Tanzania with a focus on professional ethics and business integrity. With a membership comprising over 180 local professionals and firms, ACET represents a diverse range of engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and environmental engineering. As a member of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) since 1986, ACET aligns itself with global standards and best practices in the consulting engineering industry.

ACET’s mission is to advance consultancy engineering services in Tanzania while upholding professional standards and ethical principles. Through collective leadership, representation, and collaboration with stakeholders, ACET aims to shape policies, guidelines, and standards that enhance the quality and efficiency of engineering consultancy services. Our SErvices

Training

Our training programs are strategically designed to enhance the professional competence and marketability of consulting engineers. Through workshops, courses, and capacity-building programs, we offer invaluable opportunities for skill development and knowledge enrichment. Our diverse range of training sessions covers various aspects of engineering practice, ensuring that members stay abreast of the latest advancements and industry standards.

Networking

Participate in stakeholder engagements with government agencies, private sector organizations, and other key stakeholders to address challenges and drive positive change within the industry. Collaborate with other industry players, including professional bodies, academic institutions, and international organizations, to advocate for common goals and address shared challenges facing the engineering profession.

Policy Advocacy

ACET advocates for policies that foster transparency, fairness, and accountability in procurement processes, promote the adoption of international best practices in project management and implementation, and encourage investment in infrastructure development. By advocating for the adoption of standardized contracting practices and the enforcement of professional standards, ACET seeks to enhance the quality and efficiency of engineering projects in Tanzania.

WHO QUALIFIES TO BE A MEMBER OF ACET

Qualification of Membership into ACET depends on the type of membership subscribed for by an individual or firm. There are mainly three (3) types of membership into ACET detailed as follows:

Individual Members

This category is applicable to professionals in practice as Consulting Engineers (individually, bona fide partner, bona fide director, Consultant or Resident Director) of a firm of consulting engineers and must be a registered member of Engineers Registration Board. Possess experience as a Consulting Engineer for a period of not less than three (3) years.

Member Firm

This category is applicable to a local consulting engineering firm registered with the Engineers Registration Board; it must have at least one of its directors, partners, or proprietors as a member of the Association of Consulting Engineers Tanzania. Finally, a firm must be registered officially with the Registrar of Companies and possess a valid business license.

Affiliate Member

This category applies to an Engineer who lives in Tanzania and works in consulting engineering. Must meet all requirements for membership in the Association, with the exception that he is not a partner, consultant, or director in a firm of Consulting Engineers at the time of nomination, and is employed by a firm with at least one bona fide partner or director who is a member of the Association.
